What an amazing, fun-filled week I just had in New Orleans. Katherine from Valley Ridge put together a wonderful workshop with Michael DeMeng called A Place for Notions and Potions: An Apothecary Kit. How could I resist such an interesting workshop in such an interesting locale?
It was sensory overload with all of the sights, sounds, smells, and tastes that was experienced, and we certainly made the most of every minute. Even being there for a week, I only scratched the surface of all that New Orleans has to offer. Spending most of the time in the French Quarter, there was St. Louis Cathedral, buggies lined up at Jackson Square, a trip on the trolley, container ships on the Mississippi, residences decorated for Mardi Gras, colorful homes in the Bywater, and I was happy to see the Red Buds in bloom.
Plus there were all of the colorful and interesting things one will find along the streets in the Quarter.
Aside from walking everywhere, we seemed to eat and drink everything too, including Valentine's dinner at Emerils, praline bacon at Elizabeth's, shrimp po-boys, oysters, absinthe at Pravda, King Cake, redfish, bacon sundaes from The Green Goddess, bananas foster, gumbo, and of course beignets and cafe au lait at Cafe du Monde.
Phew! But there's still more to come...
