Ten Things Tuesday: Snow Day

Because the roads are still kinda messy, and I just don't feel like going out, ten things to do on a snow day.
  1. Shovel out garage, mailbox, front walkway and plow sludge from bottom of driveway.
  2. Clean off my desk.
  3. Scan five pictures.
  4. Dye some paper coffee filters.
  5. Make a heart garland.
  6. Take pictures.
  7. Still try and figure out what to get Denis for his birthday (It's next week and I'm running out of time!).
  8. Train with the dogs.
  9. Bake a loaf of bread, 'cause I'm thinking it'll be soup for dinner. (Although a pan of brownies sounds sooooo much better.)
  10. Put away remaining Christmas decorations that have been dumped in the basement.

I have a brown thumb when it comes to plants...I don't outright kill them all, but they never really flourish. I do have a soft spot for orchids since Mom was such an enthusiast and avid grower. I picked this guy up a couple of years ago, and it hasn't bloomed in a while, so I was really excited to see the buds appear back in November. I kept hoping they would open for Christmas, sort of a Christmas gift from Mom. But, when January rolled around I figured they had perhaps gotten bud blast, since I keep the plant near the kitchen window and it got too cold at night. On Sunday the first bud started to crack open. Yeah! Not sure if the other buds will follow, but I'm happy for the one bloom.

2 thoughtful people had to say...:

Hooray, Christine!
As a fellow brown thumb, I truly appreciate this!

How lovely! My house doesn't have the right light for plants because of how it is situated....so I greatly appreciate your success! Hope the rest of the buds pop!
