All Talk, No Action

I reread my Jan 1 posts from the last couple of years, and I realize I sound like a broken record. Even when Denis asked me about New Year's Resolutions and I said to "get s&*% done", he remarked "wasn't that what you said last year". It's the same thing year after year. I had picked out "achieve" as my word for this year, but will I really achieve anything? I know I'm the only who can make it happen, so what do I do differently?

I had thought about posting what I hope to "achieve" in the sidebar so it would be "out there", but then I felt like my whole 2011 would be one big To-Do list. Not really the motivation I was looking for. Ali Edwards', where I first learned about choosing a single word to focus on for the year, has a One Little Word online workshop to help remind/reinforce your word through out the year. Journaling and monthly email prompts will hopefully keep me on track. I am very fortunate, and I really shouldn't let a single moment go to waste. So on this first day of 2011, I'm pledging a year of less talk and more action.

Christine, When I look over your last year I'm amazed at all you have done, yeah it may not have been on the 'to-do list' but so what?!?! Your photography skills grow with each picture you take, your art is simply amazing and you have a very generous heart. I know you will achieve many more things in 2011.

Christine,
What I was going to say has just been said. You are one thte the highest achievers I know! You are also not without intelligence ;-) and I am wondering is there some area or some part of your life you feel you are not achieving what you want to achieve...
Hugs,
Suz

I know exactly how you feel!! I've been doing the OLW for years now and back in 08, the word simply didn't make it to fruition!
I too signed up for Ali's class, she's the reason I started journaling/blogging years ago. I'm so impressioned by her skills. I don't think we can go wrong with her class-- I'm so excited about it.
I just finished my prompts, so I hope to get that posted tonight!!
Best wishes with your word and I'll be here to keep you abreast of your pledge..hehee!!!!!
Happy New Year girl--thanks for sharing your life with me.!!!

Hi Christine,
I think you are being way too hard on yourself! From the looks of things on my end you look to get a lot achieved.
I look forward to seeing what's in store for you this year!

That sounds like a word that I might be borrowing. I've had the inclination, just hadn't thought of the word to accompany it. A happy new year to you!

I get so overwhelmed when I do sidebar lists....and I'm awful at resolutions. I'm so hyper I tend to get what I NEED done....I just don't get any fun stuff that I WANT to do done!!!!
